Workshop in watercolor with Dennis Ponsot.
November 28, 2020

This past November 28th, The Art League of Nassau County sponsored a watercolor workshop with Dennis Ponsot. The workshop was another in an ongoing series of teaching opDennis Ponsot watercolor workshop Art League of Nassau Countyportunities, sponsored by ALNC, as part of the organization’s mission of making our area’s premier practitioners of fine art paintings, available to our members for instruction.

Dennis took his students through a step-by-step creation of a stunning watercolor landscape/seascape of coastal Maine. Dennis distributed a set of photographs to the students, offering the group an opportunity to express their preference. The winner was a Maine coastal landscape. Photo in hand, Dennis and the students embarked on the journey through the painting.

The painting began with a pencil sketch, and followed through to the completion of the realized landscape. Dennis is well known for establishing a watercolor road map, instructing the students in the step-by-step process that a complex watercolor painting needs to follow.

ALNC recorded the Zoom session and made the video available to workshop students.

Workshop in Asian Brush Painting with Winnie Tsai.
March 11, 2018

“On March 11, I participated with 19 other people, in one of the best workshops ALNC has given. We had Winnie Tsai, an award winning Chinese brush painter as our teacher. We all were awed by her ability to lay down bamboo, leaves, owers, birds and butterflies. She dipped her brush in 2 or 3 grays or colors and was able to get the most unique blended colors.

Winnie’s confidence and sense of design showed even in the simple demonstrations she did.”

Clinton G Martin Community Center, New Hyde Park

Join the Art League of Nassau County for a day of Sumie-e painting with guest artist Judith Sutton-Fagin. Judith’s interest in graphics with a focus on lithography was the starting point in her current work in water ink and the Eastern Tradition Sumi-E. Her work has been influenced from her love of nature and as a spiritual reflection of harmony and balance.
