The Art League of Nassau County provides its members with a variety of opportunities for exhibiting their work. We hold twice yearly membership exhibitions at local libraries and other public venues.
Membership Shows
We mount two shows a year, spring and fall, at local libraries and other public spaces. The League has for years exhibited a top caliber of fine art from our members. The exhibitions are judged by distinguished local professional artists and cash awards are given to the winners. We host receptions at each exhibition that are open to the public. Members post their work for sale. Starting in the fall membership show of 2018 we will be allowing gallery wrapped canvas. The following are the standards for the gallery wrapped canvas.
The canvas is stretched around the wooden frame, which is at least 1 1/2 inches deep.
The canvas is secured in the back where the hardware (staples, tacks, etc.) is hidden.
The sides of the canvas are primed the same as the front, allowing the canvas to be presentable without a frame.
The image is extended from the front to the sides.
Clinton G Martin Community Center, New Hyde Park
The Art League has a dedicated exhibition space at the Recreation Center, Clinton Martin Park, the Alex Berger Gallery. The Rec Center hosts public events drawing thousands of people attending sponsored organizational events. Our gallery provides hanging rods and wall space for shows of any size. A small works show open to membership is scheduled for November 2014.
