Sculptor Len Benari is a past president of the Art league of Nassau County.
As an active member of The Art League’s executive board, Len was heavily involved in developing new venues for shows, including libraries throughout Long Island, as well as inter-cultural exhibits held at the African American Museum in Hempstead in cooperation with past museum director Willie Houston.
Len served as a director of the American Artists Societies and was on the board of the American Artists Professional League for many years. In that role Len was instrumental in arranging grants providing prize money for shows for the Art League of Nassau County and other groups.
He taught sculpture classes for the Town of Hempstead at Coes Neck Park in Baldwin, and has been featured in exhibits at several galleries throughout Long Island and Brooklyn.
In addition, Len was commissioned to create special works for both Central Synagogue of Nassau County and St. Elizabeth’s Church in Floral Park, as well as some special restoration for the carvings at St. Agnes Cathedral.
