Thomas Germano will judge our Spring Membership Exhibit at the Shelter Rock Library.
Thomas Germano has exhibited his art throughout the United States and abroad and his work is in numerous public and private collections including Arthur Andersen International Headquarters, St. Paul, IL, Brown and Forman, Louisville, KY, American Postal Workers Union in Washington D.C. and the George Meany Center, Silver Springs, Maryland.

Thomas Germano has traveled extensively throughout Europe and teaches an annual class in Renaissance Art History in Europe. He has taught classes at Long Island University/ C.W. Post Campus, Nassau Community College, Suffolk Community College, the New York Academy of Art, and currently teaches painting, drawing and art history at the State University of New York at Farmingdale. He conducts frequent art history lectures throughout the New York area on subjects including “Michelangelo and the Sistine Chapel,” “The Genius of Leonardo DaVinci,” “Rembrandt @ 400”, “Celtic Manuscript Painting”, “The Unicorn Tapestries” and “Caravaggio”. He lives and paints in New York.

ALNC   MEMBERS WIN AWARDS

At the National Art League student show we have 12 of our members that won awards.  They are the following: Nancy Fabrizio, Paul David Elsen, Rosanne Kaloustian, Arlene Fiorella, Carol Bruder, Tomy LaMarca, Anna Castelli, Karmen Elsen, Anne Soloman, Linda Levy, Margo Vignola,  Barbara Leichter and Veronica Clarke.

Bennett is a very accomplished artist.  On Friday night he demonstrated a very interesting technique for the art league.  Using 300lb hot pressed watercolor paper, he used a diluted carbon black acrylic paint to do a detailed underpainting with 4 values.   When he finished the underpainting Bennett sealed the surface with a isolation coat with gives the painting a gloss.  Now the glazes could be applied using liquid acrylic paint and soft gel gloss.  The gloss was diluted with water 1/2.
Each glaze has simple color additional glazes can be added to get the correct tone.

Vivian Hershfield  is included in the 2014 exhibit of winners at the National Art League.  The painting will be up for the month of October and their will be a reception at the National Art League on October 12, from 1-3.  The National Art League is located on Douglaston Parkway.

The ALNC fall membership exhibit will be at the Shelter Rock Gallery of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Shelter Rock. MaryAnn Heinzen will judge the show.
